The Light Tactical Aircraft (LTA) is a fifth-generation light single-engine fighter. It combines innovative solutions and technologies, including artificial intelligence support for the pilot, as well as verified solutions that have already proven themselves in practice. The fighter has low visibility and high performance characteristics. Supercomputer technologies are widely used to create the Checkmate LTA project.
The presentation of the new fighter jet took place as part of the MAKS-2021 International Aviation and Space Salon. UAC and Shvabe Holding signed an agreement for the development and supply of a round-the-clock optical-electronic sighting system KOEPS-75 for the latest Russian light tactical aircraft (LTS) Checkmate during MAKS-2021.
LTA was presented to the foreign public at the Dubai Air Show in November 2021.
LTS is a new generation multifunctional platform that is distinguished by low cost of operation and wide combat capabilities and the ability to adapt to the needs of a particular customer.
The maximum combat load of the Checkmate is 7400 kilograms, the flight range without external fuel tanks is 2900 kilometers at speeds up to Mach 1.8, these parameters are among the best in its class. In a low visibility configuration, the fighter is capable to carry up to five air-to-air missiles, effectively fighting a numerically superior enemy, detecting and destroying fifth-generation aircraft in long-range and close combat. Cannon containers can be placed in internal compartments of the aircraft to destroy ground targets.
